The Plain English Attorney (TM)
Estate Planning Crash Course
With so much misinformation, myths, and folk remedies when it comes to estate planning, it's hard to get straightforward answers in plain English, and paying an attorney by the hour to provide you this basic information just doesn't make sense. That's why I built the Estate Crash Course to give you all of the basic information needed to make good decisions about your own planning as well as some practical considerations to discuss with your attorney when you are ready to proceed. With attorneys charging around $200-$500 per hour, it just makes sense to have good information before you ever walk into the attorney's office.
Trust Funding Course
Among the biggest estate planning disasters is having a solid revocable living trust... but then failing to line up your accounts and assets so they work in conjunction with your trust, typically referred to as "trust funding." In this valuable course, I review the different types of assets, the usual recommended steps, and potential tax implications. I even walk through the basics of filling out some generic change of ownership and change of beneficiary forms while highlighting the principles behind the questions. While each financial institution is different, this course can save you a lot of headaches in helping you fund your trust as well as save your loved ones the frustrations of probate because assets were left outside of your trust.
VA Pension Crash Course
Many senior veterans can qualify for this important benefit designed to help those who served when they need long term care. When long-term care is needed, the V.A. Pension Benefit can provide up to a few thousand dollars or more to help veterans, their spouses, and their widows and widowers meet these expenses. This course runs through the basics of the V.A. Pension Benefit, in Plain English, so that you will not simply take the word of a V.A. worker on the other end of the telephone when they tell you "You don't qualify." In addition, you will be added to our distribution list to get our free e-newsletter, other offers, and invitations to live or recorded webinars. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Special Needs Planning Crash Course
When it comes to estate planning for a special needs beneficiary, there is much more misinformation, myths, and folk remedies than other areas of planning because there could be thousands of dollars per month in benefits that could be lost if there is a misstep. This course covers those myths, reviews the main problems, highlights solutions, and provides a framework for thinking about estate planning the right way in plain English.
